Heliopolis Hospital

A general hospital in Heliopolis, one of the earliest projects of the office of Mostafa Shawky and Salah Zeitoun. It was previously known as the Princess Ferial Hospital.
It opened with 280 beds (Mostafa Shawky's own list of works gives 160 beds) and is said to have been the first hospital designed to hotel standards, with suites of different classes and a special free suite.
The curved front houses the administrative offices, and the service windows of the upper floors give the building its modern character. Apart from the curved main entrance, the plan is a simple L, with the outpatient clinic and waiting rooms set around a courtyard along the longer side. The layout gives easy circulation from the entrances and core to the rooms, and even daylight throughout.
