Thanks and Dedication
1997
Words of thanks
I praise God, whose will granted me the greatest of blessings, so that by His grace and mercy I could bring forth my work along this journey. He honoured me with many prizes, decorations and certificates of appreciation, crowned by the State Merit Prize in the Arts on 20 June 1990. I was the fifth architect to receive it since its foundation in 1956.
I believe that this prize honoured not only me but, at the same time, my colleagues in the field of architecture. I can only pray that God guides us all to the right path. My success comes only from God; in Him I trust and to Him I turn.
Dedication
- To my fellow architects.
- To my brothers and children, the students of architecture in our universities.
- To my son, the architect Aly Shawky, to my daughters, and to my grandchildren and their children.
- To my wife, who shared my journey and was throughout a model of sacrifice and generosity. May God envelop her in His mercy and grant her a place in His paradise.
